Samsung aims to become the first TV brand to introduce Google Photos integration in 2026, allowing users to view their memories on the big screen for the first time. More advanced features, including creation tools and personalised results, are expected to roll out gradually later in the year.
Samsung Electronics has announced plans to bring Google Photos to its smart TV ecosystem, aiming to give users a seamless way to enjoy their most meaningful moments on a larger screen. From travel memories and personal hobbies to everyday moments shared with family and friends, the integration is designed to transform how personal photos are experienced at home.
According to the company, the upcoming feature will allow families to rediscover and enjoy their favourite memories together in a more immersive and emotionally engaging way, reinforcing the role of the television as a shared household experience rather than just a viewing device.
“Samsung TVs have always been about bringing people together, and introducing Google Photos to the big screen makes that experience even more personal,” said Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at Samsung’s Visual Display business. “Our goal is to provide users with an intuitive and engaging way to enjoy the stories behind their photos, right from the comfort of their living rooms.”
A More Immersive Way to Relive Personal Memories
Google Photos has long been known for making it easy to relive and share special moments. With the planned TV integration, photos captured on smartphones will seamlessly transition to Samsung TVs, where they can be displayed in a larger, cinematic format that enhances visual impact.
The integration is expected to allow users to explore curated photo collections organised by people, places, and significant moments. These experiences will also complement Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, further enriching how memories are surfaced, highlighted, and enjoyed throughout the day.
Samsung envisions Google Photos becoming a natural part of the TV experience rather than a standalone feature. Personal photos could appear contextually through features such as Daily+ and the Daily Board, allowing meaningful memories to surface organically during everyday use. Setup is expected to be simple, requiring users to sign in with their Google account, after which their photo library will be instantly accessible on the big screen.
Three Ways to Relive and Rediscover Memories on Samsung TVs
Samsung’s upcoming integration with Google Photos will introduce three distinct experiences designed to help users rediscover and creatively engage with their personal photo libraries on the big screen.
Memories (planned for early 2026)
The Memories feature is expected to debut first, offering curated visual stories organised around people, locations, and meaningful life moments. For the first time, these memory collections will be available on televisions, launching exclusively on Samsung TVs with a six-month exclusivity window.
Create with AI (planned for later in 2026)
Later in the year, Samsung plans to roll out creative tools powered by AI. These include themed templates built on Nano Banana, an image generation and editing model developed by Google DeepMind. Users will be able to apply playful visual transformations, remix the artistic style of photos, or turn still images into short videos using Photo-to-Video features, bringing static moments to life in new and engaging ways.
Personalised Results (planned for later in 2026)
Another upcoming feature will allow users to view personalised photo slideshows generated around specific themes or topics. For example, selecting keywords such as oceans, hiking, or Paris could surface related memories in a continuous, visually rich slideshow experience.
A More Seamless Way to Experience Memories on Samsung TVs
Samsung and Google aim to deliver a cinematic gallery experience at the centre of the living room. With this integration, Samsung TV users will be able to browse and relive their most important moments in enhanced detail, transforming personal photo libraries into immersive storytelling spaces.
The experience is designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and reflection, allowing families and individuals to revisit their journeys and cherished memories with simplicity and depth on a larger screen.
“Google Photos is a home for people’s photos and videos, helping them organise and bring their memories to life,” said Shimrit Ben-Yair, Vice President of Google Photos and Google One. “We’re excited to bring Google Photos to Samsung TVs, enabling people to enjoy their favourite photos on a larger screen and reconnect with their memories in new and meaningful ways.”
